We had the most amazing time photographing Jackie and Dylan’s KC Engagement Session this Fall! Not only did we capture some beautiful moments around the city, but we also had the fun of meeting their sweet pup Clooney! It was such a perfect evening in KC getting to know these two! Here’s a little more about their proposal story :

“Dylan told me (Jackie) that he had a work outing on March 10th at Cooper’s Hawk. According to Dylan, his team at work was doing an outing because their Christmas party doesn’t allow plus-ones/spouses to come so his team wanted to do something where they could bring their significant others. I didn’t think anything of it because a few months prior, Dylan said his boss was trying to come up with something like this since everyone thought it was dumb that plus-ones weren’t invited to their work’s Christmas party. Sooo… March 10th rolled around and Dylan and I made plans to get brunch at The Oliver before the “wine-tasting” at Cooper’s Hawk. I did think it was weird that no one from his work was joining us for brunch because I knew one guy on Dylan’s team and his wife specifically enjoyed partaking in brunch-like activities.

Brunch was totally normal and enjoyable, and looking back now, the only weird thing Dylan did was argue with me about the way we walked to Cooper’s Hawk. Clearly, it wasn’t THAT important to me how we walked there, but it was odd that it was important to him. On our way walking to Cooper’s Hawk, we stopped to pet a couple dogs (very normal) and as we were almost to “the pretty stairs on the Plaza,” Dylan asked me if I wished Clooney was there. This was a very normal question. Dylan always asks me that, because he knows I’m obsessed with my dog and I always wish Clooney was with me. So I respond, and say… “well, yeah…!” Dylan stopped right at the stairs, turns and points up and tells me to look. I reply, “THAT DOG LOOKS JUST LIKE CLOONEY!” He says, “It is Clooney!”

So I look to see what humans have my dog at at the top of the stairs at the plaza and it’s one of my best friends, Sara and her boyfriend. She lets go of Clooney’s leash, as we walk up the stairs and Clooney meets us halfway. At that point, it was obvious what Dylan was about to do. He got down on one knee, but because I’m not a “mushy-gushy,” “talk-about-your-feelings” type of person, I didn’t let Dylan say much before I replied ‘YES! Now stand up!” Dylan also hired a family-friend to capture the moment, and take a few more photos of our little family.

After the proposal, we walked around the plaza but I knew more was in store. My friend, Sara was dressed far too nice to just be going home after she dropped Clooney off. As we walked around with Clooney, I was trying to get all of the details out of Dylan but he wouldn’t budge. We made our way to Cooper’s Hawk, walked up to their private event room and were greeted by every single person I could have wanted to be there. My sister (who lives in California), my brother (who lives in Colorado), my parents, Dylan’s parents and sister and our closest friends were there to celebrate our engagement. The ONLY thing that could have made the engagement party better, is if Clooney could have been there… :)” – Jackie
