Our Birth Story : Welcome To the World Oliver Frederic

Oh how I’ve been waiting to share this sweet post with everyone! If you haven’t heard, I’m a new Mom! One month ago we welcomed our sweet Oliver into the world and today I get to share our sweet Birth Story! Don’t worry, I’ll only give you an overview, after all the entire process was 36 hours and that would take a coffee date to chat over!

After months of not the easiest Pregnancy in the book, we were so excited to meet our little Oliver! Due to some health risks, we went ahead and induced at 39 weeks. Going into the induction, I knew it wouldn’t be easy however I did not know the “fun” that was about to ensue to bring this little boy into the world! After 12 hours of induction, my body took over and went into natural labor. Lucky for me the next 12 hours consisted of strong contractions 2-3 minutes a part which my Doula, Nicole, and my husband so lovingly helped me through. As much as I had studied and planned for a natural, drug free birth, we all agreed that to save my energy for pushing, it was time for the epidural. And what a relief that was! At this time we also encouraged our family to come into the hospital…this was at 7:30am.

Finally things started to progress a little more and before we knew it was time to push! And pushing we did, for the next 5.5 hours! Yup, you read that right! Oliver was in it for the marathon, not the race and it took every bit of strength I had to meet our little guy! So almost a full 36 hours after the start of our induction, and with SO much help, we welcomed our 7lb 14oz sweet baby into the world! That moment was truly one of both pure joy and relief! Seeing the look on my husband’s face when he finally met his son is one I never want to forget, and luckily we have the photos in case Mommy brain takes over and I do forget! (and in case your wondering, there’s a story behind the Jamaica shirt, it was intentional and oh so sweet!)

And remember all our sweet family members who rushed to the hospital to be with us at 7:30am that morning, well 12 hours after they arrived they all got to meet sweet baby Oliver! It was truly the most amazing and challenging 36 hours of our lives but I would do it all again in a heartbeat to have this little boy in our world!

And a special thank you to Nicole with Alleviation Therapy along with the entire staff at Women’s and Children’s Hospital for bringing our baby boy into the world safe and sound! So much love to my Midwives, Lori and Ali, you two are one rock star team with the biggest hearts for your Mamas! We love you so much Ollie, here’s just a few photos from our Birth, thank you so much to Rebecca Allen Photography for these priceless moments!
